Four masked men suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, from her residence in the Arepo area of Ogun State.
The incident occurred at about 9:55 pm on Thursday.
TheNewsMatrics gathered that Mrs Folasade Odumosu was about to enter her home when the masked men attacked and dragged her from her Lexus jeep.
Confirming the incident the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said Mrs Odumosu was taken through a swampy area to an unknown location.
Odutola stated that the upon the information, the Divisional Police Officer of the Warewa Division led a team of officers to the scene and a search is currently ongoing.
She said, “Approximately 9:55 pm, information was received regarding the kidnapping of Mrs Odumosu, a female resident of Aminu Street, Orange Estate, Arepo, Ogun State.
“Reports indicate that she was about to enter her home when four masked men attacked her, dragged her from her Lexus jeep and took her through the swampy areas to an unknown location.
“The CP, Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has been briefed, and all covert operations have been deployed to assist with digital intelligence to ensure she is rescued unhurt.”
She added that the DPO also contacted the Baale of Warewa and Maaba to deploy local security forces to the riverine area.
Odumosu retired from the Nigeria Police Force in 2022 after serving as Commissioner of the Lagos State command.
He has earlier served as first chairperson of Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) and also as Commander of the State-funded Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
