NCC conducts 2-day skills upgrade workshop for telecoms reporters in Lagos

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), on Thursday, began a two-day skills development training on trends in telecoms industry for media professionals.

The first day of the two-day training, was structured to keep participants abreast of trends, regulatory strides, challenges, and prospects for consolidating the gains in the telecoms industry, focused on issues such as data journalism and visualization, news gathering techniques, Nigerian Telecoms Industry overview among others.

The training also had several relevant resources persons lined up to address key topics.

During his opening remarks, Reuben Morka, Director, Public Affairs, at the Commission, explained that the training was a fulfillment of Dr. Aminu Maida’s promise on assumption of office in 2023.

Morka also said that the Upscaling also became important as an opportunity to provide media stakeholders with updated skills and knowledge of the industry as partners involved in bridging the gap between the various stakeholders.

According to him, the training was a way of showing the commissions transparency in its activities, especially as it relates to the happenings in the industry and what is expected.

The training also featured questions and answers sessions from the participants.
